Youngsters - Grades 2 and 3

Plenty of Interest for Younger Students

Young children are organized into small groups of no more than 5 or 6 and a docent leads a group through the entire museum stopping at specific locations.

At these locations the docents discuss topics such as knot tying, harbors and ports, whales and whaling, the Fresnel lens, ship model building, various historic ships, worms that live in the ocean and eat wood, the Korean Turtle boat, the Viking boat, reed boats and others.

A culminating activity called a "Search and Find" quiz follows their tour.

A discussion period follows the Search and Find which allows the students time to share what they have learned while in the museum.
