Whales and Whaling

The museum is dedicated to the age of sail. Part of that history includes the whaling industry of the 18th and 19th centuries.

Whales have a much more contemporary purpose for us today. The Channel Islands welcome whales all year long. From December through April we have gray whales going by on their long migration between Alaska and Baja California. From May through September we have humpbacks and blue whales visiting.
